The Coby TFTV2224 is fine to be used as a TV.

But, when I connected it to my computer with a vga cable, I couldn’t set the resolution to 1680*1050 which said on the user mannual. I called the technical support service, and they told me to change the vga cable. I bought a another vga cable, but it didn’t work, yet. Then I tried the vga cable on another monitor, it worked; and then I tried the coby monitor on another laptop, it didn’t work. So I think the coby monitor didn’t support it’s own max resolution.

So, if you just want buy a TV, take it. If you want buy a 22′ LCD monitor, don’t buy it.

Nice tv/monitor – pdive – new york, ny
Great TV/Monitor. TV setup was easy with the my cable box and HDMI connection as well as the VCR using RCA connections. Setup with my computer was a little more challenging but that will vary between different video cards. It is however working well with Ubuntu as well as XP – although not at the maximum resolution – again probably due to my video card. Overall I am very happy with the purchase. The only minor annoyance is that my cable remote does not have a code for coby so I have to use 2 remotes.

no shutting off the parental control – arnold ford –
this would be a nice tv, for a small room, but the v-chip that this tv has for parental control, only let you use the unlock code for a bit, if you change channels, or the next program comes on, you have to imput the unlock code, default is 0000, with dish network, if you go to the channel guide that sets it off, you can see where to turn this nonsense off, but that’s about it, besides that works ok as a computer monitor , not great but useable.

Horrible Product, Horrible Service-DO NOT BUY!. – A. Manns –
I bought this TV/DVD combo as a space saver for our RV. The controls make no sense and when I tried to watch a burnt DVD it locked the entire DVD into an “invalid entry” loop that wouldn’t allow the DVD to even eject. All controls stopped functioning at this point.

After getting through to Coby customer service, I was told to check the yellow pages for a good repair shop. No technical support was offered and no options for factory service. That was the best they could offer even though the unit was six months old and had only been used 2 or 3 times.

DVD poorly integrated into TV – Max Rivers – Phila, PA
This TV/DVD looks nice (tho stand feels/looks cheap) but its programming makes using it a chore. Unlike separate DVD’s, this one doesn’t remember where you left off even if you put the TV to sleep, so you have to leave it on or search for the spot you left off. Same is true if you switch to TV, it forgets all about the DVD, and you have to wait through the whole copyright messages and previews all over again.

And waiting is a big part of this TV’s experience. You have to wait about a minute for it to boot up – my computer is faster! And you have to wait a few seconds each time you change a channel.

The remote is very confusing – LOTS of identical buttons in a matrix. I ended up coloring some with a marker just to find PLAY and PAUSE in the field of grey buttons.

Good design – poorly built – Tim from Ventura –
This unit is a good design and produces a great picture when the picture actually displays, but this unit was poorly built. It has inputs for component video, composite video, S-video, HDMI as well as coaxial for TV tuning. The unit worked well until the picture went out when I attempted to change the channel. I attempted to remedy the problem using the troubleshooting procedures to no success. The remote was poorly designed and it has difficulty sending signals to the unit. It should have been made like a regular TV remote control, but it looks like the buttons were randomly positioned on the controller. The audio seems to work fine during TV play, but when watching a DVD with the volume up all the way, the sound is still not loud enough. For person searching for a similar unit, I recommend another brand. I really wanted this unit to work well, unfortunately it is a disappointment.

AVOID THIS ONE – FormerMermaid – Pittsburgh, PA
I bought this TV on impulse at a store, without doing my usual research. I got a good price but it is still not worth it. The remote is horrible, very unresponsive, you have to have it pointed just the right way, directly in front of the TV, and even then you have to press several times before it registers. Also, when playing DVDs there are two small flashing squares close together on the lower half of the screen, each about 1/2 inch square, very distracting. 3rd, even at maximum volume it is not loud enough on its own, had to hook up aux. speakers. Because of these 3 issues I have been forced to use this only as a computer monitor and for that purpose it works fine. I had to buy a 2nd HDTV (not COBY) to use where I had intended to use this one.

I bought this TV based on all of the reviews from around the various shopping websites. What can I say, I’m happy! Got this TV yesterday and installed last night. I have it hooked up to our OTA antenna using the built in tuner and American Idol looked as good on this TV as my 50 inch Panasonic plasma. Sound was perfectly fine for the size TV. I don’t believe there is a 22″ LCD in existence that is going to give you room filling sound so to expect it from this TV is absurd. This was the best money I’ve spent on technology in a long time. Viore has made a believer in me.

Bought this TV for the kitchen, it’s the perfect size. Product arrived promptly and well-packaged. Setup was easy, but I didn’t find the auto picture adjustment that helpful or accurate. Manual picture controls were easy enough to use. Picture is sharp and color saturation is natural looking. I’m a bit disappointed by the fall-off in contrast when viewed from even a modest angle, but I can live with that.

I’d read reviews of the audio limitations of this set, and was willing to accept them as I have a micro-bookshelf receiver and speakers that I intended to use with the set’s audio output jacks. That didn’t turn out to be possible. All of the specifications I read for this set specified that it had both analog and digital audio outputs. That spec. was one of the set’s selling points for me. Unless, they’re well disguised, though, they just don’t exist. So buyers beware on this. The lack of external audio output is the main reason I give this set 4 stars instead of 5. (Note: about the only workaround I’ve found for the audio is to plug the audio output from a satellite or cable modem directly into the external amplifier. The downside to that is that it takes 2 remotes to run the set. One devoted solely to volume control. I’m not wonky enough to make the satellite remote control the bookshelf receiver and the TV.)

Great TV for a low price – P. L. Parent – Maine
I purchased this TV to replace a 20″ one from another manufacturer & I cannot believe how much better this LG is in comparison. The sound is awsome & you can customize the settings so the voices are heard over background effects / noise without having to turn the volume way up. The color & clarity of images is also so much better than my last tv… people shown closeup are actually the skin color that they should be, not an orange-ish color. Setting this up with DirecTV was no problem and I have not found anything about this TV that I don’t like. This was my first LG purchase & based on how happy I am with the TV, I would not think twice before getting other LG electronics.

I had a few problems and had to return the first television. I think the first tv had a problem with the ballast on the back light. Kudos to Amazon Return policy, I had a new tv faster than I was able to ship the first one back.

The television is good, but not great. I bought this for the kids room and it serves that purpose. I wall mounted it without any problems. It’s light weight and has plenty of inputs. The kids have a Wii console connected to the composite video and a digital satellite receiver using HDMI.

The picture is good and the sound quality is good. Overall, I’m pleased with the purchase. My kids can watch Disney while I watch Deadwood. Everyone is happy.

I bought this set to hang on the kitchen wall. The convenience of a combined DVD was a major factor in the purchase decision. I’d read the reports criticizing the audio but decided to take a chance and buy it anyway – and I’m glad I did. The audio seems OK to me. Half-volume at 13′ away across the other side of the kitchen is more than adequate. Audio quality is also fine. Anywhere near full volume is way too loud. I really don’t know what the complaints are about – volume? audio quality? or both? The picture quality is also superb as is often the case with Sharp and the DVD is so user-friendly it’s a pleasure to use.

Worst TV mistake I made – A. Collier – Brooklyn, NY USA
Have had this set for about two years. The sound quality is horrible. I have to turn it up to the highest level most of the time and still can’t hear everything especially if there is any thing else going on. What’s the point of having the TV if you can’t hear it while you are on an exercise machine or my son is playing on the floor.

Now, the picture turns off for no reason. The screen just goes black like you have turned it off. Not gray, black. Sometimes, it returns to normal after you switch the TV off and on about five times. The sound still stays on though. It drives my 3-year old son crazy especially if he is watching his favorite show.

Whatever you do, spend your money on something else. This TV is not worth the headache. Now if I can just remember if I had gotten the extended warranty.

Major defect on this model – D. Watson – Philadelphia, PA United States
After six months of ownership, this TV began turning itself on randomly. The main circuit board was replaced. The TV still turns itself on. (However, the sound is now improved significantly!) We expect to have the TV replaced. No one seems to know why it turns itself on. The circuit board took four months to be delivered after the initial complaint. We were told the part was backordered. Maybe our complaint is a common one?

This review is not for this model exactly but the LC-26AD22U which is the equivalent (I think) in the Aquos line. This is my seventh flat screen (LCD or plasma) that I have purchased and the 3 stars are for the picture quality, I took off 2 stars for the poor audio quality. After reading other reviews- I thought – that others might be asking too much from the audio section of a TV that for most it was not going to be the main TV (I bought it for my daughter’s room), How bad could it be? .. well, this HDTV has (so far) the worst audio section of any TV I have owned (I have/had Samsung, Hitachi, Sylvania, Dynex, Westinghouse) It is incredible low, thin and “flat” sounding (words of my daughter and spouse). So my advice to others is that if you don’t care about the audio quality because you will hook it to an audio system then go for it but if this is a stand alone HDTV and you want a good sounding one then you better skip the brand completely (and least in this size) and check others. I sincerely don’t recommend it and I am going to return this one. Thanks for your attention.

Very nice TV. The picture is great, the DVD player is perfect, and I have it hooked up to both HD cable and two separate gaming systems (XBox 360 & Playstation 2) and both look great on the television. I’m very happy with it.

Bad DVD Player – John Sydness – Lakeville, MN
Great TV, nice featuers but my build in DVD player died….As with all TV’s with built in DVD players they just die and now I have a useless DVD player which is out of warranty of course.

TV screen went black after 13 months – Swampster – USA
The channels come on very slowly. Like many HD TV’s you have to be facing it straight on to get good picture quality. The volume does not get very loud. After 13 months the television screen just went black. We sent it in to be repaired and the screen was fixed but it was sent back with an audio problem. Toshiba wants 9.00 to repair the audio that was fine before they repaired the broken screen.

Over all, I like the quality of this TV. However, based on the quality and prices of tvs in it’s size class, I would definitely not recommend this tv if you have room for a component DVD player. The only reason I purchased this tv was for convenience and space. You can definitely get a better TV for less without the built in DVD. If space isn’t an issue, save your money.
